One of the most important cities of the Agreste Potiguar Region ,with more than 30 thousand inhabitants, is noted for its lively cultural life provided by the religious tourism. Every year, the city commemorates with feasts in honor of São Sebastião, Nossa Senhora da Piedade, São Pedro, Nossa Senhra da Conceição (who is the patron saint) and Santa Luzia. The immaterial historical patrimony, rescued in the legends and “causos” is maintained by the Casa de Cultura Popular (House of Popular Culture), one of many examples of lovely architecture from the beginning of the XX century still preserved.
