Pirangí beach is certainly one of the most visited by the ‘Natalenses’,with one of the liveliest carnivals in the State and also one of the principle destinations of summer vacation for the ‘Potiguares’. Another reason for its being so busy is that it’s only 15 km from the capitol. Pirangi holds one of the most beautiful postcard pictures of RN, the Largest Cajú tree in the World, a natural wonder, with a treetop of approximately 8.500 m2 , producing 70,000 fruits every harvest and written up in the Guinness Book of Records. There are regional craft shops surrounding it, a 10 meter high belvedere to appreciate the entire treetop and Guides that speak English and Spanish. The boat trips to the natural pools, formed during low tide, are another attraction of the Beach. Besides the pleasant seashore Pirangi also offers good options for bars and restaurants. One of the things you can’t miss in Pirangi is to eat ‘paçoca’ (it’s a dish made of carne de sol (sun-dried beef), cassava flour and red onions), prepared with a pestle, with macaxeira or try the crab in coconut milk.
How to arrive there
Leave Natal, from the district of Ponta Negra, by the Rota do Sol (RN-063). Pirangi can be found right after the beaches of Pium and Cotovelo.
