General Information

São Gonçalo do Amarante integrates the Metrpolitan Region of Natal and stands out because of its cultural richness and economical potential. The city is the site of the State’s newest airport, São Gonçalo do Amarante International Airport, scheduled to enter in operation in 2010, that is being projected to be the biggest and most modern airport complex in Latin America. Historical monuments, such as the Chapel of Uruaçu and the Monument to the Martyrs of Uruaçu are among the most visited. The House of Dona Militana, reciter of verses and songs, and one of the icons of the ‘potiguar’ cultura, besides the handicraft pieces in sisal, clay, stone and tableware, are the attractions you can’t miss on your visit.
